Beta 11 - House Redesign, Quality of Life, Bugfixes Galore


Welp, it's been a fun 7 months! Quit a job, did college work, and even developed a mobile game for money. This update has been in the works for a WHILE, all because I couldn't stop myself from making this *the* best build I could put out. I just need to learn where to draw the line...

THE BIG STUFF

  • Daniel House redesign! Looks and runs better. All designed by CaveL1ghter.
  • Battle Test room redesign! Might be hinting at something... (As always, interact with the chair in the living room to enter)
  • New music!
    • Slide Around (for real this time), by Bassclefff.
    • Contact Corrosion, by Donnchadh. On Spotify, and Bandcamp!
    • NEW HARAJUKU CHIC, by Tony Astro. Unreleased as of right now, but it is in-game.
  • Damn Daniel Button
    • Press X to make the funny sound, even though Josh isn't even there!
  • UI Refresh
    • More consistency with UI colors and shapes, as well as sped up animations.
  • Lowered game size.
  • Higher quality shadows.
  • New beatmaps:
    • Flight
    • Su Ritmo
    • Tutorial Battle

THE MEDIUM STUFF

  • Added a fade-from-black when loading a scene.
  • Added text during the opening that tells you how to skip.
  • The vocal countdown preceding rhythm gameplay now only happens once per fight.
  • Hold notes now properly calculate score.
  • Phone camera now makes a click noise.
  • Daniel's House has adjusted lighting.
  • Dialogue can be played through using the fire, interact, and jump keys.
  • Added a beat of delay after a spell finishes.
  • Battle notes now light up or go dim, depending on if they're playable.
  • Added dpad sprites.
  • Nerfed Luchador.
  • The Battle Test scene is now in a new locale.
  • Weirdo now has new summons, who act for him.
    • Gun - Blinds you.
    • Scythe - Hurts you, heals Weirdo.
    • Grenade - Kills you, and itself. Don't let it blow up!
  • Switched Camera file format to PNG.
  • Adjusted dialogue in Daniel's House.
  • Photos in the Gallery app now:
    • Once clicked, go to the middle of the screen.
    • Allow you to browse to the actual file on your computer.
  • New options:
    • Toggle Battle Background - Toggles wavy background on or off.
    • Chart Offset - Offsets notes to be forward or behind a beat.
  • New dev commands:
    • "toggle_bg" - Toggles the wavy background on or off.
    • "setpos" - Sets position.
    • "setrot" - Sets rotation.
    • "printpos" - Prints position and rotation.
    • "set_offset" - Moves notes in rhythm game forward or behind one beat.

THE FIXES

  • Rewrote footstep system.
  • Fixed settings not properly setting themselves on start-up.
  • Fixed buggy anti-aliasing defaulting to enabled.
  • Fixed Daniel House's skybox being blurry.
  • Fixed battle overlay looking weird in different aspect ratios.
  • Fixed resolution settings displaying all possible refresh rates.
  • Fixed opening video not playing correctly on Linux.
  • Fixed camera app animation being delayed.
  • Fixed a situation where default option text would not be replaced correctly.
  • Fixed rhythm game input defaulting to controller.
  • Fixed Shred's beatmap cutting off a few notes at the end.
  • Fixed the practice mode showing a non-existent combo at start.
  • Fixed battle cursors counting already pressed tap notes as a valid note to press.
  • Fixed perfect and good notes not counting properly.
  • Fixed perfect mode dev command messing up hold notes, sorta.
  • Fixed pause menu being slightly off in Daniel's House.
  • Fixed player movement being faster when moving diagonally.
  • Fixed player collision sometimes causing weird behavior.
  • Fixed credits starting from the middle instead of the top.
  • Fixed incorrect controller sprites.
  • Fixed Cloud Gliding having 0 bpm.
  • Fixed bugs where notes would miss at wrong times.
  • Fixed being able to press other main menu buttons when in an animation.
  • Attempts to fix flickery battle character animations.
  • Fixed battle characters being shimmery depending on the angle.
  • Fixed battle char animations when in a weird beat (when using skip_turn).
  • Fixed memory leak in Camera app.
  • Fixed infinite status effects visibly ticking on application.
  • Fixed first measure of practice mode songs being dimmed.
  • Fixed FOV option not changing FOV.
  • "fix pause menu apps causing weird behavior if you behave weird" <- What the fuck does this mean!?
  • Fixed non interactable apps making noise.
  • Fixed softlock while in dialogue.
  • Lowered default volume from 90% to 60%.
  • Fixed tutorial UI not showing up after first encounter.
  • Fixed certain AI acting incorrectly.
